Felix Da Housecat

Artist
: Felix Da Housecat
Album: Kittenz and Thee Glitz
Year: 2001
Description: Kittenz and Thee Glitz is a 2001 album by American DJ / producer Felix da Housecat. It was released in the U.S. on Emperor Norton in 2002 after being critically acclaimed in the UK. It features the single "Silver Screen Shower Scene" and the vocals of French artist Miss Kittin. The album mixes early Eighties electronic music, of the kind released by Ze records artist Cristina, with house music. It invented the electroclash genre, and acts such as Fischerspooner and Goldfrapp have been influnced by it. Outside of that genre, the use of electronic Eighties backings on R&B hits such as Amerie's "1 Thing", shows the wider contiuning effect of this album.[citation needed]It was listed by noted music journalist Paul Morley in his book Words and Music, as one of his 100 albums to hear if you think Radiohead's Kid A is weird.

Aphex Twin

Artist
: Aphex Twin
Album: Windowlicker
Year: 1999
Description:"Windowlicker" comprises three tracks, each in a different musical style. The title track consists of Richard's voice modulated on computer, mixed with his trademark breakbeat snare rushes, drum samples, and mixed choir-like singing, resulting in a smooth yet erratic song, its last minute escalating into an extremely distorted wall of bass. The rare Roland MKS 80 synthesizer is also apparent just as it was on Come To Daddy. Also included is a sample of James's French then-girlfriend speaking in her native tongue (saying J'aime faire des craquottes à mon chien, translating [literally] to "I like to make craquottes to my dog", [interpretation] "I like to have sex with my dog", where craquotte is literally a sort of small, horizontally sliced, dry cracking bread, but as a second degree can be interpreted as something cute or sweet). The song could be interpreted as a parody of over-sexualized commercial hip-hop and dance music.

Kraftwerk

Artist
: Kraftwerk
Album: Kraftwerk 2
Year: 1972
Description: Perhaps the least characteristic album of their output, it features little obvious use of synthesizers, the instrumentation being largely electric guitar, bass guitar, flute and violin. The electronics on display is generally in the realm of 1960s tape-based music more usually produced in academia, with much use of tape echo (for example the massed looping flute layers of "Strom"), reverse & altered speed tape effects. Overall the sound has a rather muted, twilit, dusky feel, similar in feel to "Megaherz" on Kraftwerk's debut album.

01 Autobahn
02 Kometenmelodie_1
03 Kometenmelodie_2
04 Mitternacht
05 Morgenspaziergang

Artist: Kraftwerk
Album: Autobahn
Year: 1974
Description: This is not a completely electronic album, as violin, flute, and guitar are used along with synthesizers. The title track features both untreated and vocoded vocals; the remaining tracks are purely instrumental. Kraftwerk used a Minimoog as one of their synthesizers, which were known to cost as much as a Volkswagen at that time. Other instruments employed included the ARP Odyssey, EMS Synthi AKS and various devices of their own design and implementation, such as their famous electronic drums.

The title track is intended to capture the feeling of driving on the Autobahn; from the high-speed concentration of the fast lane, to the tuning of the car radio, to the monotony of a long trip. Autobahn is also the first of Kraftwerk’s concept albums of sorts, which they have done up to 2003.

Saltillo

Artist: Saltillo
Album: Ganglion
Year: 2006
Description: Another gem of contemporary music, by Menton J. Matthews III (a classical trained musician from Chicago). The albums starts with a sound that reminded me of "Requiem For A Dream" OST. A journey into the depth of your soul, a mix of electronic and lo-fi (cello, viola, violin, piano, guitar, bass), accompanied by hi-class vocals. Saltillo brings trip-hop to the highest level. Downtempo pieces like "Giving In" with Sarah Matthews (amazing vocalist by the way) along with more intense tunes like "Simple Test" and eastern dreamy kind of vocals in "Grafting" will leave you wanting more. Enjoy ;)
